How Does Mr Flyer Deal With Complaints?

For many first-time door-to-door advertisers, the biggest fear is simple. What if no one sees my leaflets? For Oliver Grattan of “Olly Collects”, an upcoming reseller of Pokémon and vintage gaming collectibles based out of South Yorkshire, that fear suddenly felt very real.

Oliver’s campaign was scheduled to begin on 16 February 2026, with Royal Mail distributing 9,964 leaflets across his target area. But by the end of the two-week window on 27 February, he hadn’t received a single call. Concerned that something had gone wrong, he reached out to Mr Flyer and asked the question no business owner ever wants to ask, “What has happened to my campaign?”

Investigation With Royal Mail

We immediately launched a full investigation, both internally and with Royal Mail. To reassure Oliver, we provided proof of contract, print, and delivery to the WBC sorting hub, confirming that Flow had fulfilled every part of our process. That meant the issue lay elsewhere.

Investigations like this can take up to three weeks, and we were transparent about that from the start. Even so, we chased Royal Mail continuously and updated Oliver every two to three days, whether new information had surfaced or not. It was a tense waiting game. Nine days after Oliver raised the issue, we finally received an email from Royal Mail.

The cause had been identified: due to an internal admin error, Royal Mail had incorrectly booked the distribution. They had located the material and offered two options: cancel the distribution or proceed for the date booked in error. We notified the client as soon as we were aware of this, and together we agreed to keep the leaflet drop in place.

The Resolution And Distribution

Oliver later shared how stressful the situation had been, "When I first reached out, I was confused, angry and anxious; it wasn't a pleasant situation to be put in. I'm a very niche business which I run purely as a hobby in my spare time, it had taken me a long time and investment in marketing, and I was unsure on whether Mr Flyer would position themselves either for or against me. But to have Matt confirm they hadn't gone out meant that Matt and Mr Flyer worked for me to resolve this, rather than against me."

The relief was immediate. Oliver finally had answers and, more importantly, he had certainty that his investment was safe. Just a few days later, the calls began to come in. His anxiety was replaced with excitement as his campaign finally reached the people it was meant for. 9,964 leaflets were now in the hands of real prospects, and Olly Collects was back on track.
